GIANMARIA POTENZA COLOURS OF MY DREAMS

16 / 05 / 2025

On 16 May 2025 at 6:00 PM, the Fondazione Potenza Tamini presents the Venetian premiere of the short film Gianmaria Potenza Colours of My Dreams at the Cesare de Michelis Auditorium, M9 – Museo del ‘900 in Mestre. Directed by Alessandro Miolo and produced by Fondazione Potenza Tamini, this film received the BIO & ARTS AWARD at the Montecatini International Short Film Festival 2024, one of the longest-running Italian festivals devoted to short cinema, where it premiered in November of the same year.

Organised by the Associazione Culturale Paolo Rizzi in collaboration with the Fondazione Potenza Tamini, the event includes a public discussion titled “Potenza dell’Arte.” Journalist Vittorio Pierobon will converse with Gianmaria Potenza, reflecting on the artist’s career and personal perspective. Piergiorgio Baroldi, President of the Associazione Paolo Rizzi, will also attend.

With a running time of 13 minutes, Gianmaria Potenza. Colours of My Dreams offers an intimate view of the artist’s world, combining dream and reality elements. The film follows Potenza through his daily life—his studio, his home, and the places in Venice that continue to inspire his work. The city’s alleyways, canals, and lesser-known corners serve as the backdrop for a portrait of the artist’s creative process. Understanding his work requires understanding the man himself—his imaginative, playful spirit and consistently optimistic approach to life. The film adopts a dreamlike tone, accentuated by using black and white in the prologue and epilogue, employing a visual language that reflects the nature of Potenza’s art: suspended between material and imagination.

The project forms part of the Fondazione Potenza Tamini’s broader mission to promote awareness of Gianmaria Potenza’s work through interdisciplinary initiatives and intergenerational dialogue. The film is directed by Alessandro Miolo, a filmmaker and director of photography working in documentary and advertising. A graduate of the University of Padua, where he collaborates with the Department of Cultural Heritage, Miolo has developed a strong visual sensibility, reflected in a narrative style that is both restrained and refined. This short film presents a thoughtful and visually cohesive portrait of the artist.
