On Friday, 13 November at 5.30 pm, Palazzo Loredan, home of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, will host the launch of the catalogue for Gianmaria Potenza. Io, Venezia. Forma, Luce, Materia, the exhibition currently on view at Ca’ Pesaro – International Gallery of Modern Art until 22 November 2026.
The exhibition’s curators, Elisabetta Barisoni and Valeria Loddo, will join Gianmaria Potenza for a conversation exploring the exhibition’s themes and the accompanying publication. The discussion will revisit the artist’s relationship with Venice and consider the perspectives through which the exhibition offers a new reading of his mature work.
The publication documents the exhibition through photographs of the works installed in the Dom Pérignon Rooms at Ca’ Pesaro, alongside critical essays by the two curators. Form, Light and Matter offer three perspectives through which the catalogue explores Venice’s presence in Potenza’s visual language: a city gradually internalised over time that continues to shape his imagination even when it is not directly represented in the works.
The catalogue brings together works from different periods and across a wide range of techniques, from the 1980s to Potenza’s most recent production, highlighting the continuity of a visual language that extends across mosaic, bronze, wood, paper, textiles and polystyrene. The installation photographs also capture the dialogue created within the galleries between wall-based works and sculpture, documenting the exhibition as it unfolded within the spaces of Ca’ Pesaro.
