By Valeria Loddo
Tuesday, September 23, at 6:00 PM, the Ateneo Veneto will host the launch of Gianmaria Potenza. Elaborating New Codes, a new publication by the Fondazione Potenza Tamini. Art historian Paola Marini (former Director of the Gallerie dell’Accademia, Venice), artist Gianmaria Potenza, and curator Valeria Loddo will join in a three-way conversation exploring the book’s critical framework and editorial vision.
The volume accompanies the exhibition dedicated to Potenza at Palazzo Ferro Fini—home of the Veneto Regional Council—on view from May through October 2025. It focuses on one of the artist’s most pivotal creative periods: the Elaboratori series, begun in the early 1990s. Through essays and a rich selection of images, the book highlights the contemporary relevance and timeless nature of these works, which engage deeply with the technological and cultural shifts of the digital age.
Revisiting these pieces offers fresh insight into Potenza’s later work, revealing the enduring presence of key themes—order and chaos, craftsmanship and systems, permanence and transformation—that define his practice. This catalogue is not just a companion to the exhibition, but a critical tool for rethinking the complexity of Potenza’s artistic language through the lens of his most radical ideas.
