The Potenza Tamini Foundation, in collaboration with the Diocese of Cremona and Chiesa Oggi, is pleased to announce the forthcoming presentation of ‘Gianmaria Potenza Cattedrale di Cremona’, curated by Valeria Loddo. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 am, in the distinguished setting of the Maffei Room at the Chamber of Commerce, located in the historic Piazza Antonio Stradivari, Cremona.
The book offers a unique insight into the artistic endeavours of Gianmaria Potenza, focusing on his contributions to the Cremona Cathedral. The significant liturgical adaptations of the Cathedral in 2022 sparked discussions surrounding contemporary interventions in historical contexts, prompting thoughtful reflections on preservation and conservation practices.
Art historian Francesca Flores D’Arcais provides context to Potenza’s creations, highlighting the collaborative efforts between designers and commissioners. Insights from Bishop Antonio Napolioni, Gianluca Gaiardi, Director of the Diocesan Museum of Cremona, and academician Professor Carla Zito offer a nuanced perspective, portraying Potenza’s works as a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, showcasing the expressive capabilities of contemporary art in conveying spiritual themes. Photographer Paolo Mazzini’s captures accentuate the theme of light, enhancing the visual narrative of the book.
